Secret Story: The New Bird

I was trying to work out what bird I should next include in my art card series. I was stumped until I decided to be the self-proclaimed “New Girl” at a local business networking event. Let’s just say it didn’t quite go to plan…

As I sat at my art table after this fateful meeting, trying to put the past behind me, inspiration struck! I realised I was the human equivalent of a single parrot in a tree: bright, colourful, having trouble knowing when to be quiet and absolutely making a strong impression (ahem...). 

Then and there, I decided to paint a rosella - because these gorgeous parrots are symbolic of a shared journey. Because my local networking group and me? We’re on a journey. (So far it’s a muddy hike, but we’ll get there in the end.)

Dragonflies represent transformation and adaptability, necessary qualities to make meaningful progress and to connect with others. Bees represent community.

Wattle was used as it represents resilience. Trust me - it’s going take a bit of that to go back next month.  If you have also been a new bird recently, know I get it: I applaud you for putting yourself out there! If - like me - it didn’t go to plan, know I’m cheering you on regardless.
